The man of the family - by default only. He is married to his lovely wife Lois with three children: Meg, Chris and Stewie.
He has a bad habit of saying the wrong thing at the wrong time, and never listens to what Lois tells him. He can be very slow at taking in information on what's going-on around him, and makes rash decisions a lot of the time.
If Peter tries to sort out a bad situation it usually gets even worse.
Peter works for Mr Weed at the Quahog Happy-Go-Lucky Toy Factory. Many years ago he worked as a servant for Lady Margarri, Lois' aunt. It was whilst working at Lois' wealthy aunts holiday house that the two of them first met and fell in love.
Peter loves to drink beer with his friends, and watch television.
Creator of Family Guy, Seth MacFarlane, provides Peter's voice.
The loving mother. Without Lois the whole Griffin family would very likely fall apart. She is the voice of reason and sensibility.
Lois teachers the piano during the afternoon and spends the rest of her time doing housework and looking after the family. She has her hands full looking after their toddler Stewie who has grown a dangerous dislike to her.
When she needs someone to turn to she chats with Brian, the family dog. As perhaps the only two members of the family with an ounce of sanity they find they have a lot in common.
Lois comes from a wealthy background, and met Peter whilst spending the summer at her aunts summer house in Newport where Peter was working as a towel boy.
The moody teenage daughter - Meg. She is the eldest child of the Griffin's and the only daughter.
Meg has a tough life, her family is a total embarrassment to her, and she has very few friends at school. All Meg wants to be is popular.
The one time Meg found a really good friend, the friend turned out to be a member of a bizarre cult that was about to commit a mass suicide.
The voice of Meg Griffin is provided by Mila Kunis. Although Lacey Chabert provided the voice in series one.
The eldest son of the Griffin's. He is quite clearly taking after his father, already proving that he is rather dim when it comes to common sense.
He enjoys watching tv, playing computer games and painting. In the series 1 episode The Son Also Draws (106) he decides he wants to quit the Scouts and spend more time drawing, this talent is explored later when he gets the opportunity to become BIG in the second series episode A Picture Is Worth A Thousand Bucks (211).
Chris' voice is done by star of the big screen - Seth Green.
The baby of the Griffin's family.
Stewie is an unusual baby. He has developed the abilities to speak, read and think intelligantly very rapidly.
According to Stewie the whole World is against him, especially his mother Lois. Stewie is continually trying to kill his mother, yet all his current attempts have failed.
His favourite toy is his teddy bear Ruppert. According to Stewie (episode 213) Ruppert is gay.
Stewie had his first crush on a girl during his time at the day care centre that Lois started him at. The girls name was Janet, but the relationship was never meant to be, as Stewie discovered she was only interested in his cookies.
Seth MacFarlane provides the voice of Stewie.
No ordinary family dog. Brian is Peter's best friend.
He has lived with the Griffin's for many years now, and has been accepted as one of the family.
Brian usually has to sort Peter out when he gets in the usual mess. Peter probably wouldn't survive without Brian.
He has a background of being an entertainer and has a great singing voice. Now he spends his days drinking cocktails, sunbathing and reading.
In the series 2 episode Brian In Love it is revealed that he is in love with Lois. Lois is aware of this, but doesn't want it to interfere with their friendship.
Seth MacFarlane provides the voice of Brian.
